# Miner quickstart

> Install SAN Miner and connect your computer.

You need a SAN account and a computer with an internet connection.

## Install and connect

1. Open [Miners](https://platform.sanfoundation.com/dashboard/nodes) and choose an available **Download SAN Miner** release. Windows is currently configured; unavailable platforms show **Coming soon**.
2. Install and open SAN Miner, then click **Connect in your browser**.
3. Sign in, enter a **Miner name** of 1–64 characters, and click **Connect**.
4. Wait for **Connected**, return to the app, and confirm **Online** and **Miner on**.

Start this flow from the app. Its link expires after 10 minutes. If the browser does not open, use **Copy sign-in link** in a browser on the same computer. Restart the flow if the link expires.

## Control activity

Turn **Miner on** off to pause. In **Settings**, use **Launch at login** and **Keep running when closed** to control startup and background operation.

**Resting** clears automatically. If **Reconnecting** persists, check your connection. **Removed** or **Credential rejected** means you need to connect again. Settings shows the app version and log location for troubleshooting.

Use **Disconnect** in the app or **Remove** under the platform's **Miners** page to end the connection. Past jobs and earnings remain recorded.

See [earnings and points](https://docs.sanfoundation.com/miners/earnings.md) to track your contribution.
